Water And Healthy Beautiful Skin

For beautiful skin, drink eight glasses of water a day. If you're like many women, you've heard this unproven - but enduring - bit of beauty lore time and time again. But can drinking 64 ounces of water a day - two quarts - really give skin a fresh, radiant glow?

The answer is...maybe. While most nutritional experts recommend sipping at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water every day, most dermatologists say there's no magic number that specifically benefits the skin. On the other hand, many women - including top models - claim that drinking lots water helps prevent or clear blemishes and promotes a smooth, glowing complexion.

If you currently sip more soft drinks or coffee than plain water, there's no doubt that following the eight-a-day formula can benefit your health. And should you find that one of the rewards of drinking more water is a more radiant complexion, so much the better. Here's what the experts say about the water/skin connection.

Many people associate bottled water with the bubbling mountain stream or icy glacier on its label. But unless your home water supply is contaminated for some reason, fancy bottled water isn't any purer than plain old tap water.

But you may find so-called designer water easier to swallow. Most people drink bottled water - a catch-all term for various products, including spring water, distilled water, sparkling water and mineral water - because they like the way it tastes (or doesn't taste). The chief difference among bottled waters is their mineral content: Some brands have more minerals, some have less, and some, like distilled and purified water, have none.

Some bottled waters also contain a high amount of sodium. So if you need to monitor your sodium intake for medical reasons, check labels.
